To make the whole DS situation even more confusing, Nintendo have announced that a ‘New’ 3DS and a ‘New’ 3DS XL are coming to Japan on October 11th. Each comes complete with new-fangled SNES-styled buttons and a delightfully stubby C-stick, along with improved 3D effects, a faster CPU and a longer battery life amongst other things.

I’ve written a brief summary of the new handhelds for Everybody Plays, breaking down what exactly these new portable consoles bring to the proverbial table, whilst trying not to think too hard about just how confusing this whole 2DS/3DS/3DSXL/New 3DS/New 3DS XL situation is.

Everybody Plays is a UK-based gaming website (recently featured on BBC Click) that specialises in covering ‘games for the rest of us’, with a particular focus on the casual and family gamer.
